About Jehannah Cavaliers

At Jehannah Cavaliers, both Stephen and I are committed to producing quality Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. We are a fully registered Conformation and Breeders with the Australian National Kennel Club (AKNC) through Dogs Queensland. We compete with our dogs in Conformation Shows in Queensland and other eastern states of Australia. We are a small team and have beautiful examples of all 4 colours of the breed. Our cavaliers are an integral part of our family and have their own room in the house and spend most their time lounging with us in our family room. As Stephen is retired, they are very spoiled all day.

As we are a small team, we only have 2 – 3 litters each year. Our breeding concentrates on equal parts temperament, health, type & overall soundness. Our dream would be to breed a Cavalier that lives 15 plus years free of health and genetic issues. In our breeding program we carefully select studs that are either international imports or that have specific qualities and lines that will improve our team. All the stud dogs are screened for:

- Mitral Valve Disease by a qualified

- Eye diseases by qualified (FAVSC) ophthalmologist

- DNA testing by Massey University (New Zealand) for Curly Coat/Dry Eye (CC/DE), Episodic Falling (EF)

Our girls that we select to be bred are placed in the care of reproduction specialists at Queensland Veterinary Specialists with Dr Philip Thomas BVSc PhD FACVSc DACT and Dr Xavier Schneider BIT BLM BVSc MANZCVS. The girls have all the pre pregnancy care, all testing and ultrasounds through there pregnancy and there birthing and post birth care. Nothing is too good for our team.

On the occasion when we have a litter, the baby pups and mum are in our sight 24 hours a day for the first few weeks. Once old enough they are introduced to the rest of the doggy family in the house. This will start to socialize them. As one of the most important things with a Cavalier is their personality, they need to be fearless and when allowed, come up for cuddles with strangers.

With all our puppies, they are wormed every 2 weeks and flee and ticked from 7 weeks of age. We ensure all our new puppies are micro chipped and vaccinated with at least their first needle. If you are considering a puppy from our family please be aware we are very selective with who one of our family members go with.
